Ancient Tales, written by Matthew Brinvel is one of the many books located within The Fallen Forum. This book is Brinvel's initial reaction to a children's tale he has heard about. The tale is about the history of Isharist, a kingdom with little to no historical records, and its ruler, Yeigar. This goes over how Yeigar stole the Crimson and Teal Wools from another kingdom, and how eventually the entire population of the kingdom was eradicated due to this action.

The history of the Celsian Isles stretches back for hundreds of years. During those times, legends have arisen and stories have been passed down through generations. A favorite though, is a children's tale about the fall of an empire before Ishnir or Chillwind. It tells of folly of a greedy emperor, who stole magical artifacts from another kingdom, and tells of his destruction and ruin at their hand.

Obviously this is fiction, as we know how the settlers of Chillwind and Ishnir arrived on their respective isles, and more importantly know what came before Chillwind, with those giants often sung of. But this story has always fascinated me. It's not a very happy tale. It ends in tragedy as an entire empire is slain and left in ruin, yet is supposed to tell of the sin of greed. I can't imagine why children love it so much. Even the emperor's name is silly. "Yeigar"? What kind of name is that?
