The ancient sword Busturus is held by the future Emperor in ceremonial battle against the former Emperor. In fierce combat, they must battle until the former Emperor yields. While this may seem barbaric, it is considered a custom of great honor, and allows the previous Emperor to pass power with grace and dignity, knowing they have granted the rule of the Empire to one with strength and power.
