Chance Cubes are an experimental delve mod which can be selected for the week of August 29th, 2024.

What It Does

Chance Cubes have only one tier; selecting this tier counts for 6 delve points.

When Chance Cubes are selected, breaking a spawner rolls a 10-sided die.

Message Roll Effect
CHANCE CUBE! The die lands on a... ...1! "Ensnarement": A large, circular cage of pulling particles is formed around the former spawner's location, and mobs are highlighted in magenta colors. These mobs must be defeated to lower the cage.
If no enemies are available nearby, Juan is spawned. Juan is a majestic, if ultimately excessively unimpressive, unarmored and low-health horse.
...2! Three colossi are picked randomly, and spawned in rapid succession where the spawner used to be.
...3! A random empowered Twisted is spawned atop a pufferfish, accompanied by 4 additional pufferfish...and then is immediately cut to 25% health, rendering it ultimately weaker than a naturally-spawned Twisted due to the combination of an unreliable mount and a substantially lower health pool.
...4! One of the following is spawned a few blocks above nearby players:
[a] A primed block of TNT.
[b] A pointed dripstone.
[c] An anvil.
...5! A random mob nearby is given the Forcelook ability, forcing all nearby players to turn towards it once every second until it is killed. If none are available nearby, Juan is spawned in all his majesty with the Forcelook ability.
...6! Nearby players are granted Slowness V for 1 second, and the ground around the spawner is randomly filled in with either cobwebs or lava source blocks. These disappear after 15 seconds.
...7! Applies a random potion effect from the following list for a certain amount of time:
  • Silence (0:10)
  • Blindness (?:??)
  • Darkness III (0:30)
  • Hunger III (0:30)
  • Slow Falling (0:30)
  • Levitation (0:10)
  • +30% Speed (?:??)
  • Jump Boost III (0:30)

(TODO: durations, confirm levels of some of these)

...8! Nearby entities --- players, mobs, and all in between --- are launched up and away from where the spawner used to be.
...9! 15 experience orbs of an unknown value (or range of them?) each are emitted from where the spawner once was.
...10! All players near the now-broken spawner are fully healed and granted 6 absorption health (3 hearts) which lasts for 15 seconds.
