Quite the unexpected development, it seems my strenuous use of the artifact has caused some unanticipated side effects, and the soil has been tainted by its power.
Farmers are unable to kill their livestock for long enough to gather the meat, and citizens long since deceased have begun walking the streets. I find some humor in the fact that I have not yet had Rashem's grimey hands banging on my chamber door.
Regardless, these consequences are minor in comparison to the research I am accomplishing. Besides, I am not even in the spotlight of blame. The people are calling out Tehkma for his family's use of the artifact.
I suppose that horrid title of bearer came in handy for me after all.
