The first sign something was wrong was when the sun froze in the sky and my stomach dropped. A flurry of news came in from scouts within hours, as thousands fled Ta'Ferna. "The Soulspeaker was taken!" they screamed. Creatures had taken the sanctum for their own. The Jungle was no longer with us. The power was gone.
Perhaps this is cruel, but I was not surprised. While I respected C'Axtal, I did not expect his gambit to work for long. The power he offered felt incredible. It had granted speed, strength, and alertness that even the power of Ixume's icon could not match. Feeling that power gone, that emptiness in my gut, felt wrong. I had grown accustomed to it.
