Great trenches litter the ocean floor. Collectively referred to by fishermen as "The Great Scars", this geological phenomenon has facinated denizens of the Isles for decades. When researching said gashes, we found lingering heat emitting from them, while samples taken from around the scars largely consisted of obsidian and other igneous rocks.

We first theorized that volcanic activity was occuring beneath the ocean floor, but upon further testing, that proved to be false. The patterns of rock seem to indicate that whatever heat melted these ancient stones came from above, not below, as is typical of volcanic activity. What could have created these formations?
